Laura Blackburn, Principal

As a Certified Philanthropy Advisor, Laura endeavors to inspire her clients, colleagues, and community to unique and joyful generosity.

Laura’s formative years in the Middle East created a passion for philanthropy and the nonprofit world. She is an experienced advisor both globally and locally for high-capacity families and foundations.

Laura serves on the Goodwill of Colorado and Touch of Love International boards and is a member of The Philanthropy Collective Advisory Group. She also mentors a Gates Scholar from Colorado Springs.

Laura advised the Nonprofit Institute at Colorado College and World Vision International on philanthropy and the rising generation. She worked with Colorado College and the US Air Force Academy students. Laura was engaged by two philanthropic firms in Colorado (one focused on global grantmaking and the other on locally place-based philanthropy) before starting The Beacon Advisory.

Laura received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, and a Master of Business Administration from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Laura and her family are grateful to call Colorado’s beautiful Front Range home.

Laura believes we all have a significant contribution to make, whether our time, talent or treasure.
